  • How do I get started in therapy?
Input your contact information and I will reach out to you via email or phone to schedule a 15 minute free consultation appointment. It will give you a chance to ask questions and make sure that we are a good fit. Once you decide you want to move forward in treatment, I will send you a link to set up a personal and confidential portal so that you can complete the consent forms, intake questionnaires, and billing information. We will start therapy once your information has been submitted.
  • How much does therapy cost?
I charge what is typical of a Bay Area therapist with similar years of experience and commensurate specialized training. Cost varies by type of therapy (individual, couples, or family). The cost includes our session, HIPAA compliant documentation after every session, treatment planning in between sessions, and seeking consultation as necessary. Individual therapy sessions are $250 for a 50 minute session while Couples and Family Therapy Sessions are $300 for 60 minute sessions.
  • How do I submit payment?
Payment is due at the end of each session and will be automatically billed to your credit card. I use a confidential and HIPAA compliant billing service called Simple Practice that bills at the close of every session.
  • Do you take insurance?
At this time, I do not accept any insurance. If reimbursement by your insurance company is a possibility, I do provide "super bills"with the required information. Typically insurance providers need a diagnostic code, a CPT billing code (type of session), and my professional information. A monthly summary will be provided if you request it. Please note that not all people in therapy will meet diagnostic criteria for an official DSM diagnosis.
  • How frequent will our sessions be?
Typically appointments are 50 minutes for individual sessions, 60 minutes for couples and 60-75 minutes for family sessions. Sessions are one to two times per week depending on your treatment plan. Group treatment may be added as part of your treatment plan.
  • What is therapy like?
The therapy experiences varies from person to person, couple to couple, family to family. The starting point is usually gathering background information, answering questions, and identifying specific treatment goals. The next step is to develop a trusting relationship where you feel safe exploring experiences/thoughts/emotions. I infuse our sessions with empathy, compassion, practical knowledge, and humor. I often use examples and stories to support your treatment. I consider the treatment relationship to be extremely important. Therapy is not always easy but the hope is that in the long term you feel a lot better because of the work you have done in the short term.
  • What are your cancellation policies?
If you miss your session you are responsible for the full fee. All cancellations need to happen at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled time. Sessions are scheduled for 50-60 minutes depending on the initial agreement, and time cannot be made up if you are late.
  • When am I done with therapy?
Difficult question to answer as treatment varies by situation. Each person brings a unique set of circumstances to therapy and I tailor treatment to those specific needs. Typically once we have identified specific goals, and the steps involved in treatment, I can then provide you with a timeline. Our work together includes regular review of progress in therapy.
